Be careful. :!:  1 gram is exactly equal to 1 milliliter only for clear water.  It's not true for other substances.  The conversion from weight to volume depends on the density of the substance.  Water has the density of 1 g/ml.
According to 
this page the density of starch is 0.561 g/ml.  It gives you the following result:
2 g of starch: 2 / 0.561 = 3.565 ml.
Similarly, 
this page gives the density of iodine being 4.927 g/ml. 
2 g of iodine: 2 / 4.927 = 0.406 ml.
